Description
TORBUGESIC is for the relief of pain associated with colic in adult horses and yearlings. It can be used to alleviate abdominal pain associated with torsion, impaction, intussusception, spasmodic and tympanic colic and postpartum pain.

- Original synthetic, centrally acting, narcotic agonist-antagonist analgesic with potent antitussive activity.
- Butorphanol has been demonstrated to be four times more potent than morphine.

- The cardiopulmonary effects of butorphanol are not distinctly dosage-related but reach a ceiling effect beyond which further dosage increases resulting in relatively lesser side effects.

- Administer 5 mL of TORBUGESIC for each 1,000 pounds of body weight by intravenous injection.
- This is equivalent to 0.1 mg of butorphanol per kilogram of body weight (0.05 mg/lb.).
- The dose may be repeated within three to four hours but treatment should not exceed 48 hours.
